Fatal error during installation.

The service 'Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server [DynamicsNAV90]' (MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DynamicsNAV90) failed to start. This can be caused by one of several issues. For example, the password for the account that runs the service may be incorrect, or there could be a conflict in port sharing for the port settings for the service, or you have specified that the port for the server should be opened in the Windows firewall even though the Windows firewall is not enabled on the computer. From the log it looks like the installation files were in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\90\Setup. I have encountered installation issues when using a long path. Try putting the install file in say C:\NAV2018 and then installing from there.

    I've an issue with the latest NAV 2017 CU. This is resolved bij (re-)installing .NET 4.7.

    Could be related, i don't know. Do you see more details in the Windows Event Viewer Application log?

    @Kishorm
    It doesn't matter where you install NAV. The setup file from the DVD will always be placed in the Common Files folder. Check it for your own installation.

    Although it may not be the same as I haven't installed CU33, I had a similar issue when installing 2016 CU32 from memory, caused by the SecurityProtocol - Unfortunately it gave this same generic error, although not related to the language pack. If you install the language pack manually via the MSI, it doesn't actually validate during setup but the service will fail to start after installation. The SecurityProtol option was added in CU31 and by default is set to Tls12. Check the Install-NavComponentConfig.xml to see if it's not been added. Release notes here:

    I appreciate your reply.

    BTW, I have come to know from other sources that i need .net framework 4.7.1 at least to handle this kind of issue.

    But fortunately, I have installed the CU32 on other machine where OS & .net framework is exactly same. ( OS - Win Server 2012 R2 & .Net Framework 4.5.x).

    what is the actual reason ?

    For NAV 2017 CU18+ the installation works on 2/3 of our machines and failed on 1/3. We couldn't find a relation with the OS or .NET version. However installing .NET 4.7 or reinstalling .NET 4.7 if it was already installed, does solve the issue.

    We’ve installed CU19 successful on machines with .NET 4.6.2 (394802 to 460805) and .NET 4.7 (460805). And the machines where the NST couldn't get started anymore afther the CU19 upgrade had .NET 4.6.1, .NET 4.6.2 or .NET 4.7. We've mixed operation systems and this doesn't show a pattern either (Win 2018 R2, 2012 R2, Win 10).

    I'm going to investigate this issue further in the near future.
