Eliminate "Production BOM" granule

Hi all,
Once again, need suggestion from you experts.
My customized navision application reserves/unreserves the stock via Family and Firmed Planned Production Order. As we all know that Firmed Planned Production Order reserved/unreserves the stock considering the Production BOM of the Item.
Now the situation is I want to eliminate the Production BOM Granule from my navision application. In that case which is the way to reserve/unreserve the stock?

What business requirements do you have that makes you want to do such a drastic change?

And I think if I have 'Manufacturing, Basic' module(which contains Production BOM Header, Production Order etc) then if I do not have 'Basic Manufacturing - Production BOM' then it will do..Am I right?
Either way, it may be cheaper if they just purchase the Basic Manufacturing --> Production Orders and Production BOM.
