Item Tracking with Subcontracting

We subcontract an assembly with several serialized components. The final assembly from the sub is serialized.

- the final assy is assigned a routing with a subcontractor work center
- we use subcontracting worksheet to create the purchase order

Problem: Navision will not let us assign an item tracking line at receipt of purch order because it is linked to a production order.

Posting the purch order registers the output on the production order so that we cannot assign item tracking lines.

Is there a work around so that we can assign serial numbers to the final assembly?

this was a problem with 3.70 version. in your replay i notice that it is still a problem with 4.0 sp3 version. the workoround may be that you add an extra operation after subcontracted operation..it is not smart but simple workaround..

You are correct that it is not the best workflow but for now it is an acceptable workaround.
