How To Upload Existing data in New Database

Hi,
The client was previously using Nav 3.6 and was supported by a different company. I prepared a new customized database in 4.0 SP3 for them. The previous database contained 13 lakh entries in G/L. How to migrate that data from the previous version to the new version. Any idea will be appreciated.

    Hi

You will have to use the upgrade toolkit for this and if you are going to SQL you will also have to use the Migrate.fob to correct dates etc.

May be a quicker way is to export these entries into a text file, and import it in the Gen. Journal Line table, to be able to post the entries again. Of course, do this after you set up the company... .

he now wants to go to 4.0 so the upgrade toolkit is the way to go.

Well, the question is if he:
    - just prepared a new customized database with improved customization where an upgrade just doesn't fit
    - just upgraded the customizations to a new version where the upgrade toolkit might fit

Either way ... if he just wants to take over the few entries he's talking about, and not all the data .. I wouldn't use the upgrade toolkit. Overkill.
