Better way communicating with Navision

hi to all,
I need to build a .NET application to send XML data containing a request (such as the price for a specific item, etc.) and need a response from Navision.
I would like to implement this data exchange using MSMQ or exposing the external application to Navision, but I haven't made up my mind yet. I'm not experienced in Nav development, so I am serching for the better choice.
Any suggestion?

There were good whitepaper for how to connect .NET application to Navision Application Server with example code. But I am unable to find it on the partner source now.0

Funny how everybody thinks that the Application Server is some kind of integration component...
actually the appserver is nothing but a GUI-less client. And it uses up a licence anyway. The heart of every integration effort is writing a Single Instance codeunit.
You can just run it by leaving a client open right on the server.
After the integration is running live for a while and all the errors are ironed out it might be worthy to call this codeunit from codeunit 1 and install an appserver, because it provides two benefits:
- it can be installed as a service therefore it restarts if the server is rebooted
- every ERROR gets written into the Event Log
So the appserver is just for securing things down bit at the very very end of the development process, it's not a crucial component for integration.0 -
thank you guys

I've just developed a .NET application integrated with Nav using MQ.
I am using a SingleInstance CU on a Nav client and it seems work fine (I have to make a stress test to verify performances). I think MQ was the best solution.

Nobody thinks that, where did you get that? You use NAS to run integration code without having to have a client open. Since most integration is supposed to be without any user intervention, it involves NAS.Miklos Hollender wrote:Funny how everybody thinks that the Application Server is some kind of integration component...0 -
