I develop some report with ability of export to excel some data.
I've used Excel11 Library.
When this report are used in client with lower version of Excel the report doesn't function.
It's possible to install the Excel11 library on that client ?
I would'n like to change my report with Excel9 or Excel10 Library.

It is always adviced that an organisation is working all with the same office version (on all clienst). Expecially when you're working with office automation.
When you compile your object, then that version of office is compiled into the objects. When someone is running that object, it expects that version ... . Since NAV objects are the same for every PC that connects to it, you should have the same version of office in each PC for office integration.0 -
Your suggestion is really much appreciated but, since that can't happen in our organization I'd like to know whether I can install Excel11 Library on clients that work with an excel previous version.Fabio Guidetti

You can compile it with the oldest version you are using in the company. Others with newer office will be still able to use it (but not compile it...). You can try that...0

I understand what you mean and i thank you for your answers. But what I need to know is if i can install Excel11 Library on the client with the old version. I hope you can see what I mean.Fabio Guidetti

Try copying the "Excel.exe" from your Office instalation to the clients computer, and registering it. See what happens!
I just didn't try because I have no older versions of office over here.

I've already done the copy of excel.exe to the client but, when I register it, (with Regsvr32) it results in this error (Italian Version) "Excel.exe è stato caricato, ma il punto di ingresso DllRegisterServer non è stato trovato. Excel.exe non sembra essere un file .dll o .ocx" that in english should be : "Excel.exe has been loaded, but the enter point DllRegisterServer has not been found. Excel.exe doesn't seem to be a .dll or .ocx file."Fabio Guidetti

It makes sense, tough it's weird.
The reference library for Word is MSWORD.OLB. For Access is MSACC.OLD. I don't know why Excel is EXCEL.EXE.
There must be a way to register this file so that you can access this library from inside Navision. Let's google it.

I found this information:2) Re-register Excel with Windows. This command instructs Excel to rewrite all of its "factory default" information to the Windows system registry and re-establish links among the various components of Excel. To re-register Excel, go to the Windows Start menu, choose Run, and enter the following:
Excel.exe /RegServer
If you get a message indicating that Excel.exe cannot be found, you need to enter the entire folder directory path to Excel, enclosed in quotes. Enter something like the following. Your actual path may vary depending on your installation.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /RegServer
Excel will start, write its keys to the registry, and then quit. Now try starting Excel normally.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if this will mess your current instalation of Excel. I think you should try it in a useless computer.

I copy Excel.Exe (11) in a folder and in the run of the start menu i write :
C:\(foldername)\Excel.exe /RegServer.
It result in this message (Italian Version) "Il sistema operativo non è attualmente configurato per eseguire questa applicazione" that in english should be "Operating System is not actually configured to run this application". ](*,)Fabio Guidetti

FabGui, let's try to manually register Excel 11 (excel.exe) to the windows registry.
Follow these steps:
In a computer with Office 11 installed:
- Enter Regedit
- In "My Computer" node find "Microsoft Excel 11.0 object library"
It should find the first ocurrence at:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\1.5
- Export this 1.5 entire branch to a file
- Find again
It should find the second ocurrence at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\1.5
- Export this 1.5 entire branch to another file.
- Close regedit
- Copy those files to the target computer
- Edit these files (in Wordpad or something like that) so that the path in the file corresponds to the path you copied the Excel.exe to.
- Save these files
- Import these into the target computer registry.
Let me know if that works!

Something happens ...
After the registration of the excel11 in the client with older version, the report can view the automation Excel11 and i can compile the object without problems. When i run it the problem of compatibility remain; for example the "PasteSpecial method" of the Range Object result in an error. :?
I think i'll will do what kine told to me.Fabio Guidetti

What kine told is a very useful advice, even tough you may run into many compatibility problems since you're using a newer version of the DLL; some methods and properties from excel 11 don't exist in excel 9.
Theoretically, you were not supposed to find any errors when using Excel 11 in the older machine. If your report worked perfectly in the machine with Excel 11 installed, then this report would work perfectly as well in the machine with the new Excel 11 registration.
Does this report work fine in the machine with Office 11 installed?

It is why I wrote that it must be compiled with the oldest version... it means e.g. version 9. It means, that just functions from version 9 can be used and the variables will use the vers. 9 DLLs. There will be no problem when running ver. 11 on the PC and using this object, because all office versions have backward compatibility interfaces. For example - standard NAV 3.70 was created with usage of newest Office in time of release (I am not sure but may be Office XP) and the objects are still working even with Office 2007...0 -
I got your point kine.

In either of the options, FabGui, you'll have to do some re-coding.Marcelo Borges
