  The following requirements needs to be catered for:
  Cataloguing
  Forecasting
  Inventory Control
  Inventory Planning
  Materials Requirements Planning
  Reservations
  Supplier Management
  

  Cataloguing using item card but depends on additional information they do require.
  Forecasting using sales forecast or production forecast.
  Inventory control depends on inventory planning, there are reorder point, safety stock, scrap %, maximum inventory fields etc.
  Inventory Planning using planning tab in the item card. You can select lot for lot, fixed reorder qty, order and maximum inventory
  MRP using requisition worksheet and planning worksheet (if you have calculated MPS there) and order planning for simple MRP.
  Reservations can be selected in item card or customer card and even the system reserved automatically.
  Supplier management is available in purchasing module but it is also depended on the customer requirement. you must use gap - fit analysis before hand to make sure their detail needs
