  Jet reports uses Excel - which most if not all companies already have.
  
  Jet Reports is a complete reporting package built right into Excel. From within Excel you can view and build reports on any granule in Navision, G/L, customer, invoices, item, inventory—they are all available.
  
  View the reports from a Web page or from a locked Excel spreadsheet. As a licensed viewer you can change date ranges, refresh the reports against the database for the latest information and drill down on any data into Navision then navigate as you wish.
  
  Security is no problem with Jet Reports. Jet Reports honors all Navision security. Whether you are viewing reports or building reports as Jet Reports accesses Navision data a Navision login process is completed. Reporting access to data is completely controlled by Navision security.
  
  But I prefer Crystal Reports :-$

  Correction, it should be *all* companies have Excel.

  I am not sure for how much longer though, We have one copy of excel and 30 copies of openoffice.org 2.0 installed.

  We were one of the first jet reports adopters. I've found it to be a great tool for producing reports that aren't overly complicated. If you need data from all over the place and with a bunch of conditions, you may be frustrated trying to do it with jet reports, but for the simpler reports, it can greatly reduce development time. You get the information in an excel format if you want to do more work on it. It also has a nifty feature where you can look up all the records that go into a summed value - quite handy at times.
  
  I also use it when I want to grab information from the database, but don't feel like writing a full report - add hoc reports are very simple to write.
