I restore database (nav 5.0) on my computer with sql 2005.
I install navision 2009 R2.
when I run classic Nav I can select database in option, and everything is ok.

when I run client with new interface (web) I have got this message:

what should I do to open my database (nav 5.0) in new Nav 2009 r2 with new interface
nav.jpg 19.8K

You must set a value for the database to work with the RTC.

It's too bad error messages don't tell you exactly what to do :-k

And of course to open your 5.0 database in the Role Tailored Client you need to add Pages to your database. And in case you have customisations on your forms and/or custom forms, you need to transform those forms to pages.

Is any manual how to add Pages to database?

I think it will be lots of work. You can try to import als standard NAV2009 Pages to the database and then make them compileable but because of the different structur in the database (new tables etc.) I think it's a bad idea to update a 5.0 DB to RTC. Best solution or maybe only solution is to do a migration to a 6.0 DB and then use RTC.

Maybe somebody know a better solution but I would like to say '5.0 and RTC is a no go'

    I convert DB 5.0 to 6.0.

I transfer forms to pages, but when I want import pages.xml I have message that I don't have permissions to create pages.

    this is my license:

what should I have to be able to import and create pages?

Probably the permission error occurs because you are trying to import objects in MBS range. (Page 1-49999) Same as by forms tables or something when you try to import these as text or xml

    ok,

I import pages to my Nav with my database from demo database.
Then I import pages.xml file(after use Transformation tools)
    I compiled all new pages.

now if I try run Nav with new interface I have this error:

The Object Metadata does not exist. Identification field and values: Object Type = 'Page' Object ID='0'

what can I do with this error?
  • Joe_MathisJoe_Mathis Member Posts: 173
Maybe I am not following along here, but you upgraded all objects to NAV 6.0 right? Merging code from 5.0 to 6.0.

Not everything changed, but enough that it wouldn't work if you just added pages.

Have you compiled all page objects ? If not please try to compile all objects and restart the service tier.

I compiled all object not only pages. I delete objects which made error.

I still have the same message.

    Hi nabial,

after a little bit of research I found the following:
    viewtopic.php?f=32&t=34070

Can you please try this. Specifically the following part:
    7. created full backup of the database
    8. created new database (with option Enable for Microsoft Dynamics Nav Server = YES)
    9. restored entire backup (step 7)
I'm not a specialist for DB creation but maybe there is a flag or something when you restore into a DB where the NAV Server option is enabled.

    Greetz,
    egnaz

Hi, has this issue been solved? I just upgraded our database to 2009 and want to be able to use the services. I get the exact same error.
