adding fields to reports in Visual Studio

HI,
I'm trying to redesign a report for the RTC. I moved some fields around and now I need to add some that were not included originally. When I tried to add from the web site data tab (on the left in Visual Studio) it said I cannot add fields to headers, when I added to the body it gave me another error.
Why can't I simply drag and add fields without so many problems? Can anyone direct me to a good thread or blog on designing Reports for the RTC?
