Maybe everyone missed this?

Posted this awhile ago on here and newsgroup as well.. nobody answered.. thought maybe instead of bumping the old topic I'd start a new one. Not usually the way to do things, but I figured maybe there's a reason the old went unanswered. Maybe nobody knows the answer which is fine.

Can you clarify if the information is not showing up in Navision or Excel? Also, part of the delay may be because it is quite an older system, not as many people are using and can test what you are describing.0

Information for Variant Code does not show up in Navision, yet Exploding Matrix it shows.
It only happens on some of our newly created items this year. All of our previous year items work fine.0 -
Are you sure this isn't a customization?David Singleton0

I agree with David, I don't think Prepack was a native field. Also, the process you are describing doesn't make sense from a native perspective. Normally you would select the standard item number on the sales invoice line and then go to the variant code column and select the variant you want. How was variant code selected in the first place if she had to show the column?0

In our system we have a column for "No." in there we'd enter our item number. Then we go to the Prepack Code and hit F6. In there we select our Color. It should automatically fill in Variant Code column.
Maybe ours is different because we have Matrix, but I figured maybe someone would know why Variant doesn't show up on some items. I figured maybe we're creating new Items wrong somehow.
The girl who did new Item Cards last year is doing the this year, plus she showed me how to do them. We're following instructions that were typed out on paper some years ago and that's the instructions that were always followed.0 -
I understand that you are following the instructions as to how the items should be created but I agree with David, Prepack field is not a standard field. It seems like this custom field was added and some code was added to fill in the Variant code based on value in Prepack field. Could you go in table designer and let us know what the field No. is (I am expecting somewhere between 50000-99999) and also the code behind this field..0

Not really sure where to get the information you need. I do see the following tables:
Table 14011665 Prepack Header
Table 14011666 Prepack Line
Table 14011667 Prepack Item
Maybe I should abandon this issue being as it doesn't seem to affect anything other than not showing variant. I'm sure it's probably something we did wrong when entering new items, so it would have been nice to know what we did to fix for future.0 -

You need to call your partner and find out about this add-on. The ISV that wrote it may even have a user guide.David Singleton0
