I was curious, so i tried to download the ctp3 (We are also MBS Partner)

The file exchange programms strarts but i receive a message that the specified transfer seesion can not be found ??

Any idea how to download this confidential file?

Ok, now, in my opinion, we can just talk about our feelings and general things around NAV 2009 but we cannot talk about the product itself (problems, bugs, solutions, interface etc.) and subjects which are based on the availability of CTP3 or any other version.

For me it means, that I can tell you that NAV 2009, and I mean the RTC, is something totaly different than you are used to. And this, as you can see, is source of irritation for some people. I remember times when many people were abusing the Win XP, now same people are abusing Vista and saying that XP are the best... you can expect same thing with each new product. Same for Office 2007 ribbon. New things just needs some time, because people need some time to get used to new ideas (do not forget about ideas like "Earth is orbiting Sun" etc...).

Yes, there are some aspects I do not like too, but I am sure that I will not change my work because that, because the good things are much better... 8)
(I am already bored with solving same things with same tools in same ways... ;-))

Let's go and learn something new! Take NAV 2009 as beginning of new Adventure in your NAV live!

The NAV community needs somebody like BlackTiger to b*tch and moan and make a rukus. As much as his choice of words do not jive with me, I do agree with some comments he makes (on this thread and elsewhere on this forum).

NAV2009 requires you to re-learn a lot of things again and throw away some technical skills you've held on for so long.

:shock: are you saying that this exempts him from his NDA requirements? The contract that his employer signed with Microsoft clearly states that those employees are under the same NDA restrictions that the partner signed.

Personally I think best for all is that this thread is deleted.

That's not what I'm saying. If the company he works for signs an NDA, it's the company that employs him that needs to held accountable. If the employee decides to break the NDA without the employer knowing, then it's a separate issue.

What I am saying is that comments by BlackTiger are valid and should be taken into consideration before it gets shot down because his choice of words is terrible. Or asking him to change jobs because he has strong opinions about Navision.

To BlackTiger, you really have to work on your vocabulary. Saying things "suck" doesn't help anything improve. "Suck" is relative.

End users who want to know about future versions like this one, should really go to Convergence where a lot of future information is presented by Navision.
Plus you get to meet a lot of fellow Navision users and get incentive discounts to be used for future purchases.

Well my opinion about NAV 2009 at all: The technology improvements are so damn good and useful. We are all humans (hope so ^^) and have a different opinion how a good look and feel has to be (for both RTC&CC!). So let us talk about again if we have the first customer feedback. End-Users! Not some Cust. who has 'seen' the new Version.

A few words about "Use Classic Client"- "Use RTC"- "Build own Client around NAV Server"-posts:
1. Think role based
2. Remember integrated innovation
3. Read SOD
0. use a filter :P

Enjoy NAV 2009 and have a damn good time with it!

Just put X,S as as text30 and I as integer.

Took me less then a minute to check it out.

it's the way i've done it...I used some chars before but i realized that something was wrong...well...it tooks to you less than 1 min...this is the one of the reasons of your mvp logo

1) No matrixbox control - impacts:
- analysis views
- budgets - take a look (?!?) - it's strange!
- dimension combinations - who can use it right now?
- etc, etc

Try to change column width on analysis views (he, he, he - funny isn't it?).
Can you see vertical dimension when scrolled?
It is simply childish to expect that *anybody* will accept this.

Take a look at castrated account schedules - no way to navigate through periods, etc. etc.

2) Virtually all usefull shortcuts do not work;
- zoom
- F8 (sic! tell it to your accountant!)
- CTRL+F (???!)

But now you have very funny shortcut : CTRL+U - drill down.
Drilldown to ... what?
It even works somehow ;-))) But not the way you expect ;-))

3) FORGET FLOWFIELDS FOREVER

- try to add credit/debit amount to chart of accounts ... no one?

Just take it as a new product. Yes, there are some child illnesses, but FLOWFIELDS are working correctly...

Shortcuts? Ok, they are standardized with other MS applications. if you learn them, you will be better in using other applications too...

Matrixbox? Yes, it is pitty, but it means that there is space for your invention to create some tool for that e.g. through external application etc.).

I am using NAV2009 for my everyday work. It takes some time to get used to but after that it is just fine.

For some actions I still use the old client but mainly because I have not converted all forms and reports yet.

Performance is fine and the product is very stable.
