I/O error 21(error not found) detected during write at offse

All,

we have suddenly had an error for every single screen navigation we do in Navision. A pop-up window stating the following error was displayed on the end-user screen:

I/O error 21(error not found) detected during write at offset 0x00000014142000 in file 'N:\MSSQL\MSSQL$PROD\data\PROD_1_Data.ndf'..

Complemented with: Error: 823, Severity: 24, State: 3

Microsoft website states that this error is linked to a Hardware problem which is apparently, not our case.
We have restarted the SQL services and now things are back to normal.

However, I have noticed that the MDF file is rather small while the LOG file is huge.

Anyway have had this error before?

1) Check which recovery type you are using
2) Check you backup plan (you need to backup log files, database etc. to shrink the logs)
