Nav SP1 Server & Active Directory

Hi,

I have installed Nav SP1 Server from the CD on a Win 2003 Server machine. This has created a Navision service for me. I have also extended the Active Directory Schema in an attempt to be able to select the database when connecting from a client (rather than typing in a name or IP address). This does not work though - I only get the [Client Only] option - any ideas?!?

Do I need to add any details to the Hosts & Services files - I thought this was only if I did not have AD?

I am also unable to connect to the server at all from a client - using either IP address or service name?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Ryan

Are you sure you are using TCP and not TCPS. I think Navision 4.0 installs TCPS by default, but there seem to be some problems with it.

For changing it in the service, use "NETTYPE=TCP" to start the DB-server.

Nice one - you are quite correct. I changed the startup parameter and I can now at least connect using the IP address.

Any ideas about why the server is not listed when I do the lookup [F6] from the connection screen?

No. In general I never use this. I always use shortcuts to connect to the different DB's.
