hi!

I'm having trouble opening my database in developer's toolkit. I have downloaded the new version 2.0. I converted the database to 4.0 already, yet, I encountered an error. The error is "Database Error : 1362".

I think sombody needs to write a how to use Developer toolkit. I'm a man of few words, but will try.
4.0 client can also be 3.7, 4.0 Sp1. As long the toolkit and client matches you are ok.

    Here is the steps.

First with 4.0 client create a blank fdb.
Import the fob that is in developer toolkit folder.
    Close 4.0 client.
Open the fdb with the developer toolkit.
With 4.0 client connect to your server.
Export all objects or what ever objects you have rights to to Text.
From developer toolkit click on file->Import.
write a name in the code field.
in import tab select the file that you exported all the objects as text.
    Then click on import

Make sure you have a big enough db. start with 500 meg.

I've been using Developer Toolkit for some time now. I was able to familiarize those steps :) , Well, thanks for the effort.

BTW, the database i'm using right now is the database I was using for ver3.70, what i've done was converted it to version 4.0, and upgrade the devtoolkit.fob version in it... Is there any problem for my doing that?

You get this error when you have the database that you are using as you developer toolkit database open at the same time you have the developer's toolkit open.

Let me try and clarify a little bit:

when you run Navision and load in the Devtool Kit objects into navision db, create a company, you must then close Navision. Now you can start up the Developer's toolkit and you won't have a problem.

I hate to admit it, but I've made this mistake many, many times :)

Ive tried what youve said, but it didn't work. Still im having the same error.

in fact, no other client is open as im running the toolkit.

That's part of the issue. The toolkit goes into its own blank Navision database, you don't put the objects into another database. Once you have the toolkit.fob into the blank database, and you connect to the database with the toolkit program, you can import the objects from another database. The key part here is that you don't import the other database's objects using the objects designer, but by using the toolkit program. It doesn't "really" import it, it imports and analyses the objects in such a way that you can use the toolkit. If you would just read the installation manual, and follow each and every step by the letter (this is a conversation that I have with my wife a lot :)) it will make perfect sense.

I'm getting a similar problem, difference being that I cannot even get Toolkit to connect with the blank database.

When I try to open it, it gives me "Database error 1362", then "You have not selected a database", then finally "Database error 1046".

Could this be a licence problem? I've noticed that opening the Toolkit DB directly from the client, I cannot run the table objects of the Toolkit, only the standard ones (User, Role, etc).

    TIA

If you use the latest version of this Toolkit (MBS-Navision Developer's Toolkit v2.0 SP2), you need to use Navision 4.01 to create the developers toolkit database.

When I try to open a toolkit db which was created with Navision 4.0, I also get the error "Database error 1362" & "Database error 1046". It works fine when I open a toolkit db which was created with Navision 4.01!

That must be it. I will have to call my NSC to get the 4.01 CD.

Given our not-so-friendly relationship lately, not a nice task for me...

    Thanks a lot

First, sorry for the multiple posting. My browser reported error twice and I thought my message wasn't received.

    Just a dumb question #-o

Is Navision 4.01 the same as Navision 4.0 SP1?

Right now we're about to implement version 4.0 to one of our clients.
May I just ask, what improvements are made for Navision 4.0 SP1?

When using version NDT 2.00.291 SP3 / SQL database I always get messages like this:

    Error: 52017.
You have not selected a database.
    Database Error: 1046.

    I tried 4.0 SP1, SP2 and SP3, 5.0.

Version NDT 2.0 SP2 works ok for me with a database of 4.0 SP1.
