Hello everybody,
there are 2 possible configurations for "Components at Location" on 2 different Forms
a) Manufactoring Setup
b) Stockkeeping Unit Card
We have the Problem that the configuration on the Stockkeeping Unit Card for "Components at Location" does not affect anything.
Does anyone know the reason?
We use Nav4.0
Thank you!!!

Yes stockkeeping unit and Manufacturing expecially with costing (standard costing in our case) are not integrated. There are other areas that Manufacturing and stockkeeping units are not integrated as well.0

I also have problem in using components at location in the SKU card. I face it when try to asnwer a question from someone I don't quite remember in this navision forum and when gave a demo in front of a client. The manufacturing set up components at location is more dominant than in the SKU card. So, I think there will be important to repair it rather than watch it. :-k .

You have to use Components at Location in the Manufacturing Setup only if you don't have SKUs, for example for very simple manufacturing processing. Otherwise use SKUs, but not both0

We do have SKUs!!
But the configuration for Components at Location on the SKUs does not affect anything. We also did this configuration without using the Manufacturing Setup.0 -
Yes, you may use SKU. The components at location field in SKU card will not affect anything, because SKU card doesn't state a BOM or a Routing but it's an inventory and item parameter statement, that's why you must utilize field components at location in manufacturing set up.
If you need to change location demand for component or parent item or sub assembly, you just need to use replenishment sytem transfer in SKU card and by using planning worksheet and supply order like transfer order and purchase order and the last is production order.
