Freezing issues on Navision client on View menu option

dpraciliodpracilio Member Posts: 22
Hi Guys,

Im currently creating some custom roles and permissions for my users and for users without 'super' rights it is freezing when navigating to the View menu option on the toolbar.

When bringing up the item card and other windows within the menus then clicking on the view menu it doesnt happen, only when you're in one of the main menu's eg. sales and receivables, inventory, purchase and payables, etc. I am not sure why this is, but once you enable access to some system objects eg. give object designer access and/or super access it is fine.

I am also trying to give this same role to include access for using the 'show/hide' column feature.

If anyone can help with this asap would be much appreciated, been playing around for a while now without any luck.

Thanks,
Dave.

Can you be clearer on this? I didn't understand what you mean.

That feature is always enabled. It wouldn't be logical to disable it, because some fields are hidden because most of the time they aren't used. But some companies need those fields (like Variant Code of the item).

    Hi Kriki,

For an example, if we dont grant our stock control users (using the login 'stock') with the 'SUPER' role, the Navision client is freezing when these users click on the view menu option on the main menu screen in Navision. They can bring up the other options like file, help, window and tools.

It seems to be a permission that we need added to one of their existing roles but we arent sure what object is tied to the view menu option.

    I hope this helps...

It is strange. It shouldn't freeze. Which version are you using?

For permissions in the view menu: I looked in 4.0SP1 and these are the ones I found for "Object Type"::System:
    3220:View, Table Filter
    3230:View, FlowFilter
    3410:View, Sort
    3510:View, Design

You should give them 3220,3230,3410, because these are for filtering and changing index.
No. 3510 I don't think you should give them this one. To be honest I don't even know for what it is but seeing the name I think it is for developping.

    Hi Kriki,

I've added these system objects (as you suggested and stated below) to one of our existing roles and it still freezes.

    3220:View, Table Filter
    3230:View, FlowFilter
    3410:View, Sort

We are using Navision 3.7 B. I might install the default Navision database that comes on the CD and see what permissions are set. In the meantime if you can suggest anything else.

    Regards,
    David.

I checked a 3.70A-db and in it I also found
    System 3510:View, Design.

-You might also try this one.

-Also, you can try the to remove the zup-file and retry.

-Are you sure you are using 3.70B fin.exe?

    Hi Kriki,

The executable is 3.70B, tried removing the zup file and added that view, design object too, still with no luck.

I have noticed that it only happens after you open the company and are on the menu's like inventory and sales and recievables. If I am in an item card or any other card, I am able to click on the view menu option without a problem. Very weird...

I'm getting out of options 8-[

How about de-installing the Navision client and re-installing.
