fin.exe/Navision problem..

We use Navision and it shows our version is 3.10.A
One of the ladies here opens an order in Navision, selects to print to Acrobat PDF. It gives us the message that fin.exe has created an error. The program will need to be restarted. We click OK and it closes Navision.
Any ideas of what we should do?! This has been working fine and all of the sudden yesterday this machine had a problem.

Try to reinstall the PDF printer and check if the settings of the PDF printer and Default printer are not changed...0

Is PDF Printer a seperate program?! I re-downloaded Acrobat Reader and installed it with no luck.
If I search the web, the file fin.exe comes up from various sources. Some of it I see related to Navision, some of it to other things, so I'm unsure as to what fin.exe is exactly. I've tried to copy fin.exe from my computer to the other one and it still gives us the error.
I looked on Adobe's website and don't see PDF Printer, but they do have something called PDF Writer, but that is for Windows 95.0 -
Nobody?!
I still can't find if fin.exe is a Navision file or something else?!0 -
I use CutePDF myself to prnt to a pdf file, and I never have these issues.0

You can't print using the Acrobat Reader. It's just a free Reader.
If you have the full Adobe Acrobat then that's a different story.
Fin.exe starts your Navision program - it has nothing to do with printing to a PDF file.
Daniel uses cutePDF - http://www.cutepdf.com/
I use PDF995 - http://www.pdf995.com/
and if you search the forum for "PDF" you'll get 10 more applications that allow you to print from Navision and make it a PDF file.
Does this make things clearer?0 -
CutePDF works great.
I just figured fin.exe had something to do with the PDF because that is the only time I get an error posted in the original msg.0 -
I think the actual message is "fin.exe has encountered an error and has to close'. It might be that the two executables don't work well together and caused an error. Windows mentions fin.exe because the error was in the fin.exe process, or thread, or whatever else it is called
. That doesn't always mean that it is that particular program that actuall caused the error.

We've been printing from Navision to "Adobe PDF" as listed in the printers for years. All of the sudden the other day it didn't work.
Oh well, I gave up on it. We might have had a full version of Acrobat here, but if we do I can't find a disc. I'm the most technical person here having been working on computers for like 23+ years now, but there's not a lot I can do here since I'd be held responsible for it all if something did go wrong. Such as reinstalling Navision on that machine..
Thanks for the help guys.DenSter wrote:I think the actual message is "fin.exe has encountered an error and has to close'. Re-install Navision on the local system. This should resolve the problem for you.Regards

you know it might even be because of a Windows security update, who knows... When stuff like that starts erroring out I usually just rebuild my whole computer.0

Also...if the system has been re-booted recently...it is important to note that the ZUP file would have been lost and the shortcuts that you have on the local system for Navision will most likely be lost. To gain access, re-install Navision client on the system and ensure that the database is pointing to the Navision server. This will resolve the issue....Regards
