Default Printing - Diffrent company / Diffrent Printer

NavNewBieNavNewBie Member Posts: 15
Dear guys,

Just implemented Navision for my company. We are facing problems with printing invoices to diffrent printers.

i.e. for company A we print to printer A and company B to printer B.

now the system will print either to the default printer or to the last printer printed. how can i tell navision/system to print to printer A if i'm using company A and to printer B when printing to printer B.

Thanks for all the help.

You can setup printers for combination User/Report ID in Printer Selection form. But this table is shared with all companies by default. You will need to change that...

If you have tabledesigner you can open the table, put your cursur one row below the last field, choose properties and change the DataPerCompany property.

The table needs to be empty for this action.

If you use 2 different reports for your invoices (eg. standard invoice report 206 for company A, a new invoice report 50000 for company B) you can use the Printer Selections table to assign a different printer to each report (General Ledger -> Setup -> Printer Selections).

Think i have the table designer cos i can see it being listed in the license information.

But I don't understand what you're refering to. Sorry....but could you give me more information?

    thanks.

    btw......is this a programer's/developer's forum?

thanks. so i need to create 2 diffrent reports for these companies. and then i could assign the printers to these companies....even if the user is the same user?

    thanks. =D>

But if you do changes in one report, it will not efect second one.
    The same for permissions
    And it costs :)
I will recommend to contact Navision partner and they will solve it in 5 minutes.

Another way is to have different login accounts for each company, messy I know but at least you won't need to maintain two different reports.

yeah. this is one of the way. but the frequency of change between companies is too frequent. :(

guess....maintaining 2 forms would be the way. only thing is the concern that i would need to change printers in the future.

I had a feeling two users would be a bit too much of a problem. Still two reports isn't too big a deal as you can update one and then copy/paste the report in the Designer.

it will cost a lot more to have Navision partner program it. Because then every upgrade, every service pack ect will also have to be programed, my suggestion as an end user is to take a little time, create the second report, since you need to learn to do reports anyways, it will be simple to copy the existing report. Then when ever you have any futurer upgrades it will not cost you anything but a little time for you to posibly recreate the second report again. since the original may change in the upgrade, in which case you will just copy it to your second report all over again. If at all possible learn to do it yourself, by finding alternate ways of doing something, rather then have your solution center program it for you. otherwise you will find it very difficult and expensive to keep Navision up to date.

Thanks for this tip. This is an important factor to be taken into consideration. :)
