Barcode scanning

Does anyone know whether, by International Barcode standard such as EAN13, will it allow the scanning of supplier PO number so that during scanning, not only does it pick up the barcode number, quantities, it will also pick up other information printed on the barcode label?

Any idea?

If you need include more informations into one barcode, you will need another type than EAN13. You can think about PDF128 or another "2D" barcode...
