Client Server installation

I intend to setup one machine as a server (proprietary) and several others as clients on the same LAN. When I do the client installation, I chose anyone who uses this computer in customer information. The proceeded to choose a Minimum setup type to choose ONLY a client (no server).. Still i find this client machine contains the databse.fdb file...

And for the server pc - I tried to publish it over the network by running the schemaXt.exe file when I got the "navision scheman extension for active directory" error... the system retrieved the following error: no such object on the server...

looks like something terribly wrong... all i want to achieve is a database server and many clients which will be writing to the database in the same LAN setup..

PLEASE HELP !!!

The db is there, because it is demo DB... I think you need custom install and uncheck the demo db and demo db backup...

Extending the AD schema is not necessary for working with the server...

I agree with kine. I allways select custom and deselect things I don't want.

Having a demo dbf on your hard drive does not screw up your connection to the server though, so you don't HAVE to unselect those things to make it work.

You need to read the server installation manual and look for how to publish the application in a native server installation. You will need to alter your services and hosts files to ba able to use the database server name. Without those modifications though you should be able to connect to the database server by entering the IP address, and Navision should find the database itself.
