[give up] NAS stops starting Codeunit 5064 after sometimes

trancutrancu Member Posts: 85
hello everyone,

we use Navision Application Server for starting the Codeunit 5064 (E-mail - Logging) to remove our mails from the "Navision Queue"- directory into the "Navision Storage"- directory.
For the first some times the Application Server works right. It starts the Codeunit 5064 every 30 seconds. But after some minutes (3 till 5 minutes) it stops starting this Codeunit anymore although the Application Server is still working.

Has anyone the same problem like this or does anyone know the solution for our problem?

thanks!!

Have you take a look into the System Log Entry?
The NAS stopps when more then 20 or 30 error messages.

An other reason: Have you modified the called Codeunit? Are there confirms ore other dialogs?

Can you reproduce this "phenomen" when you use an client for work this?

    Regards
Do you make it right, it works too!

    Hi

Are you using Nav4 with or without SP1.
There is a reported issue witch has been solved in SP1 with e-mail addresses longer that 80char

    Hello garak!

There are no error-messages in the System Log Entry!!
It seems that NAS doesn't stop. Because in the control panel the service of NAS is always in a "started" status.

We have never modified the Codeunit 5064.

    Reproducing this "phenomen":
We tried to use NAS on an other client computer. But we also have the same problem.

    Hello danlindstrom!

    We use Nav4 without SP1
Our e-mail addresses for testing the NAS functionalities is not longer than 40 characters.

I can remember there were two issues that did this. One was email addresses longer than 80 characters, and I can't think of the other one. I have since archived the emails from the cuztomer that I've seen this for, and I don't have quick access to them.

Have you called MS support? They have a list of things that can cause this.

I called MS-Support and they told me:

NAS may wait for an input.
Install Hotfixes for Nav4.0!!!! that will help.

I don't know whether it would help or not.
We gave up to use NAS.

    merry christmas!

If NAS is waiting fror input, then you can see what the input is by running the mail logging codeunit yourself from a regular Navision session, so that any messages or dialogs will show up on your screen. NAS writes these things to the event log, so you should be able to find some sort of indication.

It is very sensitive to setup, but if you set it up right, then it should work fine. I would try manually running the maillogger and see what issues turn up.
