Hi!
We are planning to move to an SQL DB from the native Navision DB.
I would appriciate any input from anyone who went through this experiance to share their experiances and provide recommendations and pros and cons.
I would suggest that you consider upgrading Navision before making the conversion, or at least use newer client executables. There have been a nuber of changes in the Navision client to address sql. Also build an appropriate enviroment for your Navision SQL. This includes not only picking the right hardware, but also configuring it correctly.
After getting things built, implement a PM plan to keep your system at peak perfornmance. Remember that SQL is not a "install and forget" system. It must be managed to keep it at peak performance. It does however have many tools to help with this process.
A few questions for you:
What is you current system like? (number of users, database size, transaction type and volume)
Whay are you moving to SQL? Are you trying to solve a problem, or do you need feature only available with SQL?

Look at my posting dated 22 Nov 2005 - Subject 'Attain 3.10 Migrate to SQL Server 2000'
You will find interesting links to various subjects. Do proper testing before you implement.
Good luck
