Direct Menu access from Navision Client

KyleaKylea Member Posts: 39
Hi all,

I was told that on this site somewhere there is an explanation of how to make Navision go directly to a menu item. i.e. The user would click on the Navision client icon and go straight to the purchase order form instead of having to open the company and then select P&P and then select Orders.

I have had a good look but can not find it. Does anyone know if this is possible.

Thanks in advance

Kylea

Yes, this is possible using shortcuts.

Open the Purchase Order form and select File -> Send -> Shortcut to Desktop.

When Navision is not running, you can click on this shortcut on the desktop. Navision will start, and open the Purchase Order form. In order to log in automatically, you need to use Windows Authentication.

The same shortcuts can be created for reports.

    Hi,

I have created the shortcut as described but unfortunatly I get an Acces Denied message.

This is an SQL database which is running Windows authentication.

It seems to be trying to open it using the internet explorer.
The second message I get after the access denied one is
Internet Explorere cannot open this helper application for......The protocol specified in this address is not valid. Make sure the address is correct, and try again.

    Regards

    Hi Luc,

that is fantastic - it is working now. Amazing how one little '\' can mean so much.

Thanks very much for your help. Hope I can reciprocate one day.

    Regards

    Kylea.
