How to do that in Navision?

Hi !
I would like a way to reproduce this scenario into Navision:

I'm using Tools and I want to :
- Manage the shelf life ( let say after xx years that tools must not be used anymore) or need calibration after given period of time…
- I want also to do Check-In/Check-out: I want to be able track the technician who has the tool in hands
- Each tool has a serial number assigned to it.

My ideas are to use Items or resources for that, but how can I manage shelf live and check in/check out??

On the Ser. No. Information you have two fields: Inventory and Expired Inventory. May be it will helps you...

Check-in/out - you need to create some new module for that. It will be easy...

Calibration etc. - you can use some addin for maintenance or create some small module yourself...

To manage shelf life, use resources and resource capacity, set the capacity for the life of the tool, then you will be able to run a periodic report of available capacity, which in your case will be remaining life of the tool.

it wouldn't really be a check in check out,

but for check out you could put the resource on a job, and for check in you could set up a specific job, called Check in, and put the resource there, if you ran a resource usage report, it would show when it was put on a job, and when it came back to the check in job.

might work, wouldn't require any programing.
