Installing BA using Citrix Server Farms......

Hi,

I am able to install Basic BA W1 ver 4.00 successfully on a SQL Server environment.

But when i try to install the same using Citrix environment, i always get the error when i run the Configurator manually...

DBNETLIB[SQL Server doesnot exist or access denied]....

My Client's scenario...

SQL Server / Demo database / Analysis Server / BA Configurator on One machine.

So when i connect through Citrix server to Navision, i need to map the drive where the BA Configurator.exe resides. So the drive name is different when i set the configurator path in navision.

When i click, the Start Configurator, i get the above error.

Is it possible to install BA on citrix environment. Did anybody tried to install the same. Please do write back, if anybody has any solutions.

It is problem to run BA configurator from another machine than where is the MS SQL with Analysis services installed. BA assumes that the MS SQL server where you want to create the cube is on the machine where you are running the configurator.

Thanx for your prompt reply.

Can i ask you, what should be the solution for scenario's linked with Citrix? As our client has locations across the world and he uses citrix to connect to Navision. So is there any work around solution for Citrix.

What should be the path to the configurator?

Do help me if you have any solutions....

1) You need the configurator only once - after you create the cube definition, to create the cube. After that, you do not need that, all users need only access to the cube. The cube is automatically updated as you configured in the schedule...

2) You need to run the Navision on the server, where the cube will be created (on server with MS SQL and Analysis services). The BAConfigurator (BA Basic) will be installed on this server and you will fill the path like c:\program files\Business Analytics\Configurator\BAConfigurator40.exe. You will runt the function Run configurator on this server...

3) After creating the cube from the server, all users need access to this BA server and to the cube. This must be set outside Navision. Navision BA Basic ends with creating the cube... after that, it is on you...

Of course, all what I wrote is my opinion and because I have no BA documentation, it is only what I found out and learned from the code, experiences etc...

Hi,

I copied the client to the same drive where the SQL Server/ Analysis Server and BA Basic Setup are installed. Now when i connect through the citrix and open the client which is on the same drive as SQL Server / BA Setup and start the BA configurator, i get the below error message.

Error Message

Error during Initialization

Access violation at address 004D2BCB in module "BAConfigurator40.exe". Read of Address 00000008
=========================================

As the servers are located in a remote location and Navision Admin is located in a different location, so we have to access through citrix and hence, i have copied the client files to the same drive as SQL / BA setups and trying to run the BA Configurator.
Any Help on this issue would be highly appreciated.

1) I am not sure, if you understand me. To be sure: I told nothing about same drive as... I am talking only about same server, not drive... (to be sure that you do not copy the client from for example drive to drive C:...)

2) I have this problem with thi exception too, it seems, that it is problem in the XML file. Try to simplify the definition and follow the document "Known Installation Issues.doc" - for example the part about limited depth of dimensions etc.

Thanx for the reply. I just moved into same drive, with a small hope that Cube will be created in Analysis Server. Actually they were on the same server, but i am accessing through citrix to start the configurator.

I didnot find anything related to my issue in the "Known Issues Document",as i am creating a simple cube with 1 table.

Anyway thanx for all the help. I will try to run again and try my luck.
