How would I do this in Navision? (3.70)

Ps2KPs2K Member Posts: 3
I am a student and working on a graduation project for school. The objective is to deliver a functioning Navision installation based on a fictional company.

The company is a sort of conference centre. Our fictional company also rents pre-built stands to the attending companies of course we would need to link them to the right conference.

- How do I keep different conferences separeted in Navision? For example company A will have stands on conferences B,C and D.

Our license is limited so we're forced to use the CRONUS forms and database :(

    Hi,

As far as I know there is no renting capabilities in Nav3.70.

But, you could use the Customers as the companies that rent the stands, and the service management to rent the stands to them.

You can use the Service Contracts as a header (with From/To dates) and then add one or more service items that is are stands and are created under the customer (Service Item).

    It is just a thought...

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply! The service contracts are just the thing we need for the stand renting.

But how do I link the things? Can I link orders and service contracts to a project? The project being the conference.

    With regards,

Using a Job (project) for a conference can be a good thing.

You can post on a job from almost anywhere in navision.

Just remember jobs are very basic in navision.

    Nope,

No link between the Jobs and the Service Management.
You could use the Respociblility Center Field to group orders and Service Contracts to the Conference (enter a line per conference like: 'CONF.JUN 2005'

No. Indeed no easy standard link. Sorry

But you can also link the service contract via the dimensions to a job. : 8)

If you put that job dimension everywhere you can still use the job no. to build reporting on.

As you can see, there are many ways how to do things in Navision... :-)

It depends on what you need to reach. You can use Service module, Jobs, Resources, Nonstock items, it depends what you want to do with the informations, if you need to rent them and keep info about the contracts, or sell them, etc.
