Creating of Fixed Assets

I am hoping that somebody has been faced with this problem before.

Does one need to setup a fixed asset card for each fixed asset or can these be grouped? In other words, if I have purchased 10 Computers, do I have to setup a Fixed Asset Card for each computer or can these be setup on one card?

I have tested this and all seems fine, but the problem comes in when I need to purchase more Computers at a later date and carry on with the Depreciation. The Depreciation will look at the Depreciation Starting date on the Asset Card and not when I purchased the new Assets.

Please Help!

    Hi,

As far as I know you can't add another FA in a group asset (quantity>1) cause the system can't calculate the depreciation of each one, but for the whole package, since it doesn't keep the acquisition date for each one.

The only way is to create a new FA of the later purchase.

Thanks for the response, I had a feeling as such.

Another function that I found that might help for anybody else that has this problem is the Copy Fixed Asset function on the Fixed Asset Card. This helps with the problem of having to create 10 of the same assets at a time.

Unfortunately our client is not happy with this solution and we are going to change the FA functionality a bit to be able to use on FA Card for more than one FA.
