Permissions in 4.0 upgrade

BokkBokk Member Posts: 138
We have done an upgrade from 3.10 and apparently updated the permissions and roles by exporting those files from the 4.0 product CD and importing them into the new version and updating using the wizard in the upgrade toolkit. When we test the user's access, we get many read permissions errors on tables, many of which they don't even use. It almost seems like the new tables weren't added to the roles so they were not updated. We are having to add each table to roles as the errors arise which seems really cludgy.

Has anyone else experienced this?

We are also trying to lock down the GL so it can't be viewed, but users that need to post in S&R, etc seem to need this access.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

    Have you run : Tools->Security->Syncrhonise...

    Seems to be required after changes to permissions in version 4...

    Synchronize only updates authentication between Navision and SQL Server, it should not make any impact on the permissions inside Navision.

    While i agree with you in principle... I have had issues with "You do not have read permission to table xxxx" until i have synchronised the security.

    We have done the synchronize many times during this process. We did find that permissions changes did not appear to impact the user until we ran the synchronize. We eventually got it done, but it was a hassle. During testing it was time consuming, however, when we went live, any issues that arose usually meant adding addition permissions and we had to get everyone off the system to synchronize because otherwise the SQL connection seemed to get dropped because of traffic.

    I would still like to know if others are finding that when they upgrade, the permissions do not seem to be updated for 4.0 - it seemed like the new tables were not included resulting in access to basic things such as orders which worked in the earlier version, gave permissions errors until we manually added them to the roles.

    Thanks!

    We ran into the same problems, many more tables need to be added to the premissions. a major pain in the butt.

    Yes, I have had the same issues (using Navision DB Server). In most cases the tables that cannot be read are in modules that we are not using.

    We have had some relief by upgrading to build 21544 of the 4.0 client. This build allows a single login to be synchronized. You can run synch for the user reporting the problem and then run a full synch later. Hope this helps.
