Hi all,

We plan to use the CRM module from Axapta. I know that you can send a mail through Axapta when you have Outlook installed. Is it necessary to have an Exchange Server, or will it be a requirement for the next version 4.0? of Axapta. Any info on this matter will be welcome.

Thanks

Anne

    Hi Anne,

For the current Axapta version i.e 3.0 you don't need any exchange server but you mailing parameters in axapta should be properly mentioned. For upcomming versions I don't know may be some MS person can throw some light on that :) .

    Hope it will help

    Hi Kumar,

Thanks for the reply. I could not get any answer from our supplier about this subject. It saves a lot of money and effort if I can keep using MDeamon. Thanks again.

    Hi Anne,

I might be wrong here as I have never tested this -

But AFAIK, Axapta needs Outlook client mainly to synchronise mails etc. But it really shouldn't matter what type of email server is being used.

As you may be aware, synchronisation between Axapta and Outlook client happens through a dll called smmaxol.dll. Axapta doesn't look beyond this particular area. In other words Axapta really doesn't look into what type of email server is being used.

As far as next version, in short MS has redesigned the integration with Outlook. Also lot of efforts have gone into the CRM module. Please let me know if you have any specific queries on Dynamics Ax 4.0.
