Installed NV on new computer.
Runs 2 test databases (Cronus plus another) off the hard drive.
Can't open our main live database on Server.
Multi-user environment.
Other users have no problem.
Not at /over user limit.
Other server services/files/computers work fine.
Positive connected to network.
usually get following mess:
You cannot use the file \\Server\Navision\Database.fdb because it is already in use.
Got this one once (tried it several times)
This function cannot be executed while the database is being used by others.
I hope database is in use by others (know it is) as that is the reason for putting on the network.
How do I open the database?
Am I mising something? e.g. license file (manual says stick on server, which it is/has been)
other?

Are you running the database as a service?
In which case, why can users access the db directly?0 -
Sorry I must not have subscribed properly, did not get notice of your post.
Not running database as service.
To be clear about original problem.
I was able to run/use the single user database (use it as a test db for modifications I make)
I was not able to open the database for our live/main multi-user databse.
I did 2 things wrong (hope this helps somebody else)
I was trying to open database, without first going to Server Connect and connecting to server.
The do Database Open.
But even after realizing/remebering that I had to connect first, I then could not connect to server.
Was getting instructions to restart client, try again, if that didn't work message said to boot server then client, if that didn't work then to check NetBIOS.
gave error as NetBIOS code 20 (haven't a clue what it met and I was stubborn cause rebooting wouldn't solve anthing.
Turns out that what I first had to do was go to Tools Options then set the property Net Type to what we use namely TCP I forget what the default value after install was, something like Netp.
Anyway after setting Net Type, then could connect to server no problem and the open database, no problem.0
