Change field name in table

I need to change field name in custom table in BC OnPrem. ID remain same.
When I try to install the new version of the app, the system tells me that removing a field is not allowed (even though the ID has remained the same). If I force the schema by synchronizing, the field is renamed, and the data remains in the table without any loss. Do you see any drawbacks to this operation?

You can't change it for standard fields, if you need just put a new caption in a page extension, that will do.

If you do this, you may break someone's app that extends or in other ways depends on your field. For this reason, Microsoft tells you to deprecate the field and create a new one.
I don't know if you are stuck with the field forever, or how to proceede from there.
It might be desireable to rename a field, but there is really no necessity. Just define a caption, even for en_US.
And never repurpose a field.
