Newbie: Is it possible extend the standard field?

Is there way to extend the standard field properties in an standard table via AL Code (BC 22) ?

Please suggest a documentation page for modify keyword in TableExtension?

Like, increase size of a standard text field (I understand it is not possible) ?
What is the recommended method?

Or do I have to add a new field altogether?

Just search for "Business Central x" and then substitute x for the topic you want to know about like 'modify fields in table extensions'.

You cannot change the datatype of a field in tableextensions.
