Upgrade 2.6 object to 4.0

I am new to Navision and new to a company that I think has been getting screwed by their vendor for the last 5 years. They have been told that simple report updates and account schedule layouts are custom programming only capable if you have developers license. I have found this not to be the case. Now they are saying that if I created a few custome reports in 2.6 there is no way to bring them into 4.0. I have to have them completely reprogrammed at $125/hr.

The two I am most concerned about are modifications I made to the landscape account schedule. One modification increased the array sizes to 16 and expanded the sheet to 11X14 to support the additional columns.

The other one added one of our dimensions as the top group for the report. Although it wouldn't take much to re-write this I wanted to know if I truely could not upgrade them and if not I would love an explination as to why they can't be upgraded.

You can load those reports in 4.0 without upgrading and if they compile, no upgrading is required.
I've done about 5 upgrades on my clients two of them, the new version was 4.0. My guess you vendor is being lazy or is thinking worst case.
Newer version of that report uses Analysis view so you can do filtering based on Dimensions.

I usually quote upgrades based on number of modified objects and unusually I put .5 to 1 hour for every object. Some objects take longer, others less. So in the end it events out.

Do not forget, that there are many changes between 2.60 and some customized reports need to be re-created, because data which are using are different (detailed ledger entries etc.)...

    at $125/hr.

as a side note. that's a pretty good rate here in NY it's $250 to $300. That's why I do the stuff myself. 8)

When I first saw Navision I needed a start date on the customer card. Cost me $250.00.

gotta love the Application Designers Guide

Detail ledger entries are for sub ledgers. For GL nothing major has been done.

I do find the change in handling of dimensions a major redesign. The tables 11 Department & 12 Project from Navision 2.60 don't exists anymore. So any reports that are based on those tables should be redesigned.

I transferred the acct. schedule object and it came in from 2.6, but had a missing table which I expected. I switched it from Department to Dimension Value table as the first grouping. I then updated a few varibles that referenced the old table (11). Now when I compile I get an error that says "record variable need to belong to 84 not 0" any ideas?

There is some parameter where you are passing variable instead record for table 84... check parameter types...
