Multiple Companies in one database

Hi, For one of our customers we need to create many companies. Currently we have 27 companies on 5 databases. We plan to increase the number of companies rapidly. So my question is : Is there a limit on number of companies on a single database? Does the performance of the system decrease when number of companies in a database increase? What are the disadvantages of creating multiple companies in a single database ( ~100 companies )? Do you recommend this?

If there is no disadvantages we might consider merging the existent ones into one or two database, and create new companies in this two databases.

I've seen more than 100 companies in the samedatabase and more 100 TB size database. Those themshelves aren't issues. It's more about number of concurrent users, aplicacion size, types of process, and so on. If you've doubts may you should subcontract another company that has expertise in SQL.

The only downside of maintaining all the companies in 1 database, is that they all will have to share the same object instance. This can also be an upside depending on how you are viewing it.
