XMLPort.IMPORT result

Hi All,
I found that function XMLPort.IMPORT has optional third parameter ResponseOutStream. Does anybody experienced this? I cannot find how to use it. To simply pass outstream results in empty object.
We need to get response from our XML ports, however I prefer not to use Singleton since there may be such capability in XMLPort itself.
