Can we delete Obsolete fields from sql

Hi All,
I'm working on Business Central 16.0 version. I have changed the data type of a field in table extension, by making the original field as Obsolete. It didn't have any data in the table. Then I created a new field with new field ID and required data type and published the extension.
I wanted to know if it is possible to delete this old field which I have made obsolete from sql side and does it has any impact on BC.

But since you are on BC16 then I think it is onprem.
Since BC19 (I thought) you can also do a forcesync with a PTE extension. With appsource extensions you cannot use a force sync.
