Report Extension - Modify existing column

Trying to sort the correct syntax for modifying the properties of an existing column thru a report extension. Can this be done thru a report extension?

From what I can sort out, it looks like you can't do this. What would need to be done, is add a new column that shows the same value. Then apply the needed properties and update the layout to use that new column. Unless there is something I'm not seeing.

You can only modify the triggers of an excisting column.
But if you want a change in the lay-out you have to great a new lay-out.

I good starting point is: aka.ms/bcreporting
There you can find anything of reporting. The use of it and developing it.

Unfortunately this is not a change I can make in the layout. Can you think of another approach besides my idea of adding a new similar column?

Perhaps a future release will support this. They have added some features since the original release.

To make it clear. You want to change a property of a column in the lay-out So not in AL?
If you are changing the lay-out you must create a new lay-out throught a extension.
    Or maybe I'm missing something.

No. I need to change a column property in the AL dataset.

A property you also cannot edit by an extension. Then a new column with the good property would me OK in a report extension.
