BC17 - OnOpenPage code executes before page is shown - How to avoid?

Hello All,
I have an http call (OnOpenPage trigger) and based on the result, fields on a card page are populated. When I open the page, the browser cursor (mouse pointer) goes into loading, the existing page becomes unresponsive 'Working on it' message is displayed.
After 10+ seconds the card page is opened.
I moved the http call to OnAfterGetRec but same results. How do I let the page load and then hit the http server.

Since you are on BC17, have you tried using Page Background Tasks? If unknown to you I recommend searching for this term on the online development help from Microsoft on Dynamics 365.
