Increase description field

I have been reading about this and I have a suggestion:

why not creating a new field (full description) of 60 chars (or more) and OnValidate, copy over the first 30 chars to "Description" and the next 30 to "Description 2". OnValidate of "Description" en "Description 2", we build the "Full Description"-field.

This way, the standard fields are filled, the search description is filled, and all default functionality keeps working.

I am very interested in your thoughts...

Sounds like a simple and elegant way to do this. I'd add to it some logic to cut off the text into Description and Description 2 in spaces only, although that would make you lose some space in the big one I guess.

Well, i've put some logic for this in my navpad ... quite complicated ... . And indeed, in this case we would lose some space in the full description... .
