Routing by locations in regenerative planning

Our process is so that the purchases are planned and performed on one location and production - on another. Is there a standard setup to plan purchases and production this way and route the components through the transfer orders to the production location?

At least i know, that some component is in demand on one location and is on stock on another location, than the system should recommend to transfer it. How is the mechanism activated?

This is handled by using Stockkeeping Units. There you define replenishment parameters for an item by location. So for item X you could define that for location A you purchase it, and for location B you supply by transfer from location A.
