Hi,
Im not too tech savy so would appreciate if the anwear is in a "beginner level". Im trying to set up the SMTP Mail Setup settings for a customer in NAV 2017. When I try to send as myself, to myself the test goes through. But when I try to send to another mail I get the following error. I have tryed to enter another User ID with the same result. Any idea on how I can proceed? Many thanks.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017

This error is typically due to the sender name being blank.
Are you using the default address from "Apply Office 365 Server Settings" - or are you using your own?0 -
I'm using "Apply Office 365 Server Settings". It just populates the server and port. The sender name most definetly do have a name first.last@company.se (the field User ID). Or what do you mean by sender?0
-
I mean, are you using a real e-mail address to test this?0
-
Yes the e-mail address are real and existing.0
-
Can you post the full stacktrace from the event viewer?
I made a small checklist from different microsoft support tickets related to this issue:- Is this an office365 account?
- Does this account have an actual mailbox?
- Can this account send mails manually without error?
- Is the mails storage capacity exceeded?
- Do you have any code in SMTP mail codeunit that could overwrite the sender?

Hello, I am having the exact same problem, the solution is in the mail settings? or from Navision?0

First you can check your SMTP connection information. sometime server firewal can block the connection also. So you should check the infomation from different server. SMTP Tester: https://www.techinblood.com/smtp-tester/
