Zup file

JacklmJacklm Member Posts: 7
Hello,

I am still working on a zup file.
In fact, for some reason, in the new 4.0 version of Navision, the menu bar on the left of the screen, extends to use all the screen.

I did not found any solution to overcome/repair that problem.

The only way, up to now, is to delete the zup file....

Any other guess?

Jack

Try setting your screen resolution higher. Then open Navision, maximize it and see if i still uses the entire screen. If that doesn't work I think the zup trick is the only thing left.

No that is incorrect information. Do NOT delete that table please.

What you mean is to delete all records within the table, but that will not be possible because the navigation pane needs the whole screen, so Jacklm cannot see the object designer

Try the trick with the resolution. If it doesn't work, try to delete the fin.zup file.

To get in the objects, you can use CTRL-F1 to switch the menu on or off.

    That's Alt+F1, not Ctrl. 8)

This situation has been happening to users in our organization on a daily basis. To the point where they have been taught how to delete their own zup file and reconnect to the database.

Is anyone aware of why this is happening and what we can do to prevent it?

From what I've seen this problems apears when the computer is given a "processor cunsuming" task while the Navision is still running.
If anybody knows other possibility...please post it 8)

Anyway I guess the SP will corect this problem.

In my experience the two things that have happened everytime this happens are 1) the screen has been locked for some period of time and 2) navision has been maximized

Also...something common is that all our users have [different] zup files stored on the network.

    Hi,

We all are in the same boat ... ... in fact, so many of us !

I had faced this problem too and experimented a lot. I didn't find any solution though, there are a few things I have learnt:
    a) Deleting the fin.zup file is an option to get rid of this problem, but as in uto's case, if its not possible, then the only solution is probably to reinstall Navision client.
    b) This has usually happened in my case, after opening either the Help file within Navision or the Navision debugger.

There are two bytes in the fin.zup file that represent the width of the side menu, if anyone is curious as to the whereabouts within the file i could post more details.

My problem event worst. I can't even locate my fin.zup in my laptop. I have tried to reinstall Nav4.0 but to no avail.

I wonder Microsoft will patch this immediately.

Remember that the zup-file is only created/updated when you exit Navision. So if you have just installed the Navision client on your machine, there is no zup-file yet. You first have to start Navision, and when exiting, the zup-file will be created.
