Replace Item no Field with new item no.

I'm using 2017.
I created a filed 'New Item no.' in item card. This field stores the 'item no' for Blocked items. While creating a sales order, when you select a blocked item then this field will replace with 'New item No.'.
I'm getting the new Item no value but can't able to replace. How to achieve this??
