Need help to deal with special characters

Hi
Does anyone have the full list of the Navision special characters? My customer is having a problem as their Item code is full of special characters that make it difficult to run the Navision without getting some errors.
Otherwise what are safe characters to use besides _, - , ., all the upper and lower case alphabets and integers.
