I haven't been able to find an answer why we need to upgrade to NAV2018CU2 before upgradring to a newer NAV2018 CU?

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/nav/2018/04/06/upgrading-to-dynamics-nav-2018-from-dynamics-nav-2013-or-dynamics-nav-2013-r2/

Anybody know if this is still an issue, or can we go directly to eg. NAV 2018 CU6, and skip the upgrade to NAV2018CU2

I think I remember that it is something with the upgradetoolkit changed after that.
For help, do not use PM, use forum instead, perhaps other people have the same question, or better answers.

They mean that only the early versions of NAV2018 contain Upgrade710HF1100.FOB in the UpgradeToolkit.

You cannot upgrade std. NAV data directly from NAV2009 to NAV2018 anyway, so I'd solve this differently.

Upgrade from NAV2009 to NAV2015 first.
The upgrade toolkit in NAV2018 later versions contains fob objects from NAV2015 on, NAV2015 still had a fob for NAV2009 in the upgrade toolkit.

Or combine the code in both upgrade toolkits, and make your own upgrade codeunits and tables.

That is, if you want to perform the data upgrade.

Yes, I am of course fully aware that you cannot upgrade from NAV 2009 to NAV 2018 directly

Ok, well that's wat they mean. They stopped supplying the upgrade toolkit objects for nav2013R2 from NAV2018 CU2 on. Upgrade to NAV2018 CU2 can be skipped if you've upgraded to a version later than NAV2013R2 before. And if not, NAV2018 CU2 has to be your first step.

So if you upgrade from NAV2009 to NAV2013R2 first, you can only do it in 3 steps, and if you follow my advise you can do it in 2.

And no, this is not solved.. CU12 still does not contain the upgrade fob from 2013R2.
Consider it solved from the moment that MS starts issuing the Upgrade710HF1100.FOB again.
