Printing from web client via mobile phones

Hey all my question is in regards to setting up printing from web clients via mobile devices

Can mobile devices connect directly to a printer or does a port and VPN to the printer need to be setup to add drivers to the phone?

This depends on a couple of things, although as far as I am aware, you aren't able to print from Web Client without a mod...?
