How to resolve '_' is not a valid AllXsd value?

Whilst importing data from a CSV file using a data exchange def - I get the following error > A call to System.Xml.XmlConvert.ToDateTimeOffset failed with this message. The string '04-04-18' is not a valid AllXsd value.
How do I reslove this?
