Regarding Blanket Orders

hi all,
I tried creating a blanket order for an item.
since blanket order is an agreement between the custmer and vendor upon some qty-rate settlement.
the system allows to change the rate even after receiving some qty from the qty mentioned on the blanket order.
moreover, is there a way to apply some restriction on the validity of that blanket order i:e the max. time upto whic it is valid.
pls help
