Hello all members,
My customer was using NAV 5.0 and now migrating to NAV2016.
According to your experience, what's the best way to migrate data, specially transactional data such as sales orders, quotes, contracts... how should I do?
Many thanks for your urgent reply.

This depends on the sales process of your customer.
Best is always to finish and invoice existing sales orders as much as possible.
Then using RapidStart export and import. Then you would have to release and do the subsequent steps manually (depending on the implementation of your customer).

Thanks HannesHolst for your quick reply, I just have a problem with rapidstart V9 and data migration tool on V5. Errors due to special characters like ° and ¤ ect...
I managed the code but git the error on the xsl/xsd tempfile exported using V5 RIM Tool. :'(
Does anyone have the solution for this? I cant' ignore fields because they are important ones so...Technico-Functional Consultant NAV

Hello Hanen_T,
Why don`t you use standard NAV upgrade tools?
NAV 5.0 can be migrated to NAV 2009 without any data migration steps (only objects merge and database convertation), than you should make 2 steps upgrade:
1. Upgrade from NAV 2009 to NAV 2015 (please upgrade directly to NAV 2015, not NAV 2013);
2. Upgrade from NAV 2015 to NAV 2016.
You can find all required upgrade tools object in UpgradeToolKit folder (installation archive).
You can find more details on MSDN, for example here:
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/nav/2015/02/23/upgrading-from-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2009-r2-or-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2009-sp1-to-microsoft-dynamics-nav-20150 -
For transactions data best way is to upgrade your NAV using upgrade tools. Migration is only good when you are just taking base, setup and master data in a new company.0
